I am what you call "self taught". I have learnt to make jewellery all by myself.
I've got pictures, in my mind, of a child's amulet with tiny beads, a thin ring with a blue stone on a child’s delicate finger.
In antique shops, green, red precious or semi-precious stones on old silver. Unpolished, rough, handmade ornaments.
In museums opaque beads – agates, amethysts, cornelians, even some made of colourful glass, on cotton or silk cord or even linen string, sometimes. Sheets of silver,thin as paper,finely worked with a few tools and lots of patience.
Those are the things I recall when I make my jewels.
Simplicity of means and form. Imperfections which show the hand, the mind, the effort for an aesthetic result which differs each time.
